REMINDER - PTA MEETING TONIGHT

Tonight at 7:00 p.m. our PTA will meet in the lunchroom. Mr. Femiano, one of our teachers, will be sharing some ideas on ways you can help your child in the area of reading. Childcare will be available from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the gym.

PUBERTY NIGHT - TOMORROW

By now, all of the parents of our 5th graders should have been contacted about Puberty Night. This very important annual event will be held tomorrow night at 6:30 p.m. here at school. If you have a 5th grader this year, I hope to see you there.

GARDEN GRANT

With the help of three parents, Roberta and Gordon Post and Lynn Barnicle, our kindergarten teachers, Ms. Stroh and Ms. Broome, were able to secure a grant to set up a garden here at our school. Children will have an opportunity to learn much about plants, vegetables, recycling, etc. and the garden will be used to help stock a local food bank. Congratulations!

YOUNG ACHIEVERS

One of the activities that The Bon Marche, our P.I.P.E. partner, does for us is a program called Young Achievers. In November and again in March we are asked to select l0 outstanding students to receive special recognition by The Bon Marche. It's a difficult task because we have so many great kids. They were treated to a nice luncheon last week at The Bon, and they received beautiful certificates for their accomplishments. Congratulations!

TWO NOTICES TOMORROW

Watch for two notices which will be sent home with your child tomorrow.

l. Book Recycle Program - If you have any "gently used" books at home which you no longer want, but which any child in grades K-l2 might enjoy, please send them to school with your child. We have a large box in the front hall to collect them all. Schools all over Seattle are doing this from now through March 22nd. The books will be sorted centrally and and distributed back to the schools for children to read.
2. Talent Show - Watch, too, for information about a Talent Show we will be having on April l2th.

Sincerely,
Carl Leatherman
Principal
