P.T.S.A. MEETING TONIGHT:

PTSA Meeting tonight at 7:00p.m.  Childcare will be provided.  We will be voting (and need a quorum) on how to spend the money you’ve raised.  Come make your voice heard!

FALL CLEAN-UP UPDATE:

The Sunday Fall clean up was a rousing success.  We had a good turn out of parents, students and teachers.  The weather was perfect for a day in the garden. We were able to achieve all our clean up and transplanting goals and made great strides into the ivy invasion.  Black plastic remains in place to weaken the remaining ivy between the stairs.  We will be meeting with the school district facilities dept. to address their slope stability concerns and hope to have a plan in place for the Spring clean up which will be held in March.   Thanks, Dave Hadaway

COOKIE DOUGH FUNDRAISER UPDATE:

Cookie dough delivery will take place Tuesday, Nov. 23rd.  Please make arrangements to pick up your orders on that day, as we do not have the ability to store or refrigerate cookie dough.  We are in need of volunteers to help organize and deliver orders to the classrooms.  There will be two shifts:  One at 9:00a.m. and another at 11:00a.m.  Please call or email and let me know what time works best for you. Cori Roed (835-5919) or cori@windermere.com.   We will have extra cookie dough available for purchase.  Let me know what kind you want and I’ll reserve it for you.  Thank you for supporting your PTSA.  Cori Roed

HOLIDAY FUNDRAISER MESSAGE:

Holiday shopping is just around the corner.  Do it online, avoid the crowds and earn some money for our school at the same time.  Go to www.boxtops4education.com, register Arbor Heights as your school.  Visit Box Tops Marketplace and shop online at over 200 stores like 1-800-flowers (8% cash back for AH), etoys (4.5%), Lands End (3.5%), Red Envelope (6%) and many many others.  Planning a party?  Oriental Trading gives back 5%.  Happy Shopping!

INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC UPDATE:

It is my pleasure to announce that Kris Tollefson Sealy (clarinet), Alex Phaiboon (percussion), Tan Brian Dinh (trumpet) and David Spry (baritone horn) will be performing with the Junior Westside Symphonette at their Winter Concert .  Many other Arbor Heights alums are involved in the concert, including Hannah & Julia Hodges, Max Forbes, D.J. Ross, Margo Femiano, Michael Swanson, Jim Hiner, Tina Fu, Marlys Mandeville and Dominique Porcincula.  Even Marcus Pimpleton, who is now the band director at Denny Middle School and co-conductor of the Symphonette, is an Arbor Heights alum!!!

The concert will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 7th at Sealth High School – 2801 S.W. Thistle St. in the new Commons Area, beginning at 7:30p.m.  Also performing on the program will be the Senior Westside Symphonette.  Each group will play concert and holiday music and the evening will conclude with an All-Holiday Singalong.  Everyone is invited to attend!  For more information, please contact Dr. Reineke, our instrumental music teacher, at tonireineke@comcast.net.

P.S.  It’s free!

INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC BOOKS AND SUPPLIES NEEDED:

Several students still do not have music books this year.  If your child is finished with their instrumental music book, would be please consider donating it?

Band students are using Standard of Excellence Book 1, and the violins are using Essential Elements for Strings 2000, Book 1.  However, we’d be very happy to take any other books off your hands as well!

Thanks, Toni Reineke
