Parent Bulletin

Dear Parents,

A week from today many of us will be celebrating Thanksgiving with family and friends. In this season of giving thanks I want to give a special thanks to the Arbor Heights staff for all they do. We are truly lucky to have these quality instructors teaching our children. I also want to thank all the parents and students for their hard work this year.

Please help us officially welcome Lori Boyer to the Arbor Heights’ staff. Mrs. Boyer has been substituting as the Instructional Assistant in Room 8. It’s nice to have her on a permanent basis.

Conferences continue through Tuesday, November 21st. I hope you can use the information from your child’s teacher to help supplement any instruction that is given in the classroom. Some students may need accelerated learning schedules. Please ask your child’s teacher how you can help with this acceleration process.

Finally, I want to thank Barbara Bailey and Pam Rogers for putting together a great Veterans Day program. We salute both of you.

Sincerely,
Barry S. Dorsey

Principal

Conference Schedule Continues

The conference schedule continues next week. Students will be dismissed on Monday and Tuesday at 1:00. On Wednesday all students will be dismissed at 2:10. There will be no school on Thursday and Friday, November 23rd and 24th in celebration of the Thanksgiving Holiday. Due to the short week we are not planning to send out a parent bulletin before the Thanksgiving Break.

Kudo’s to You

Thank you to all the wonderful parents and guardians that read the Thursday Parent Bulletin so carefully each week. We attempt to make our written correspondence to you as short and succinct as possible. We are diligent about sending everything home one day a week, to make it as easy as possible for you. We have a Monday deadline for groups to submit things to be sent home so we can have an easy to read packet. We thank you for rewarding our efforts by reading the information we send home.

In the meantime, if you have any questions please call Sandy Watkins (937-9560) or Anna Phillips (786-1331).

Don’t forget Family Fun Night is tomorrow night, November 17th from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Come enjoy pizza, bingo and prizes…it’s more fun for the whole family. The cost is $3.00 per person.

Blockbuster Video—Education, Good Grades, Free Rentals! Blockbuster rewards hard work in school by giving free rentals for good grades. Students in grades Kindergarten through eighth grade who have an A or B average on their report card can present the report card at their neighborhood Blockbuster store to receive one free BLOCKBUSTER rental.

With the Holidays just around the corner this is just a little reminder if you shop at Target and use your Target Guest Card. Target’s "Take Charge of Education" includes a program that operates in conjunction with the Target Guest Card. Every time you use your card, Target will donate 1% of your total purchase to our school. Here is the pertinent information you will need to designate Arbor Heights:

ARBOR HEIGHTS ELEMENTARY SEATTLE, WA 98146 SCHOOL ID NUMBER 106391

Target’s most recent donation to the school was $456.84, in October of this year. Remember every penny counts!

Thanks to everyone who helps collect Campbell’s Soup Labels and Box Tops for Education. We recently received a check for $224. That’s a lot of box tops/labels. Way to go Arbor Heights!
