Parent Bulletin

November 9, 2000

Dear Parents,

Our October Recognition Awards were given today at the Veteran’s Day Assembly. I want to thank the guest speakers and all the students for their participation. Ms. Bailey gets special thanks for all her work in coordinating the musical portion of the performance.

Conferences start on Monday, November 13th. Please make every effort to keep your scheduled appointment. With lots of specialists and translators scheduled for conferences the change of a conference time sends staff scrambling to adjust schedules so they can accommodate everyone.

As the weather continues to change please remind students not leave coats, etc. on the playground.

Please be reminded that if you block a driveway while parking at the school you may be towed. Local residents have said they will call and have the vehicles towed if they are blocked in again.

I want to thank the parents who volunteered during the Pacific Science Center Van visit last Thursday. It was an exciting day that students will not soon forget.

Sincerely,

Barry S. Dorsey

Principal

Veteran’s Day

There will be no school tomorrow, November 10th in recognition of Veteran’s Day. We wish to thank our guests, U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Steven Strand and Retired Marine Colonel Richard Percival for coming today. Please ask your children about the assembly and what they learned about Veteran’s Day.

Conference Schedule Begins

Beginning Monday, November 13th, the Seattle School District Conference Schedule will begin. Please see the flyer going home today reminding you of the temporary change in school hours.

PTSA News

Don’t forget – the next PTSA meeting is set for Thursday, February 16th at 7:00 p.m. As always, childcare will be provided. Call Beth Dwyer (932-9560) or Roxanne Thomas (248-1062) if you have any questions. Hope to see you there!!

Hey all you bakers out there! We did a great job on the Open House Bake Sale. We topped $200 and I think we set a new bake sale record! Well, it’s time to get those ovens warmed up again because there is a Family Fun Night coming up. What would it be like without a bake sale? Not much fun, that’s for sure. On Friday, November 17th there will be a Family Bingo Night. Please bring your baked goods to school Friday morning for pricing. You can either bring them to the office yourself or send them to school with your children. Remember, we can not accept anything that requires refrigeration. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer to help (I can’t be there that night), please call me at 938-1765. Layne Bautista

Cookie Dough Fundraiser (packets went home on Monday) will run November 6 - 15 (no late orders please). The cookie dough will be delivered to the school on December 6th. Checks should be made payable to AHPTSA. If you have any questions, please call Sandy Watkins (937-9560) or Anna Phillips (786-1331).

Family Fun Night – BINGO NIGHT is November 17th from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Come enjoy a fun-filled night of games, pizza, pop and prizes! If you have any questions or would like to volunteer to help, please contact Mari Davis (935-0269).

Holiday Wreath Sales begin today! We will be selling wreaths again this year. Look for your order form that is coming home today. We will be getting our wreaths, again, from Bacon’s Christmas Tree Farm located in Bremerton. The wreaths measure approximately 22 " and are hand tied with aromatic Noble Fir. They are decorated with berried Juniper, Incense Cedar and pinecones. Ask your friends, relatives and neighbors. The Arbor Heights PTSA does not recommend kids go door to door. Orders should be turned in by November 22nd. We will be receiving our shipment the first week or so in December. Any questions, please call Karin Toycen (242-9114).
